Theodor Seuss Geisel was born on 2 March 1904 in Springfield, Massachusetts and wrote 46 children's books in his lifetime, which were often characterized by imaginative characters and rhyme. He was a perfectionist in his work and he would sometimes spend up to a year on a book. It was not uncommon for him to throw out 95% of his material until he settled on a theme for his book.
Besides the books, his works have provided the source for children's television specials, Broadway and movies.
