Get creative! Turn your gingerbread men upside down &
make them into CHRISTMAS REINDEERS!
What you will need:
- 350g plain flour
- 1-2 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda
- 100g butter or margarine
- 175g soft light brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 4 tablespoons golden syrup
- Gingerbread man cookie cutter
- White icing sugar, chocolate, red and green food colouring for decorating
- Water for icing sugar
- Turn oven on to 190 degrees C /Gas 5.
- Put the flour, ginger and bicarbonate of soda into a bowl and rub in the butter.
- Add sugar and stir in the syrup and egg to make a firm dough.
- Roll out the dough to about 5mm thick and cut out your gingerbread men.
- Put the shapes onto greased baking trays, spacing them out as they will spread.
- Bake for 10 to 15 mins until golden brown.
- Leave to firm up for a couple of minutes on the baking tray before placing on a wire rack to cool.
- Once cooled, make up some white icing and divide into 3 bowls - leave one batch plain white, add red food colouring to the second batch and green food colouring to the third batch. Melt the chocolate.
- Turn your gingerbread men biscuits upside down to decorate and transform them into reindeers! Use the picture above as a guide.
